Fundraiser Held for Tony LaBarca, 35 Year Member

Story and Photos by Ex-Captain Steve Grogan

On Sunday, January 28, 2006, a fundraiser, sponsored by Hose Company 1 of the Lynbrook Fire Department at the Tally-Ho firehouse for Hose Company firefighter Tony Labarca, a 35 year member who is seriously ill, was a great success due to the hundreds of  firefighters, friends and residents who came out to support Tony and his family.  A contingent of firefighters from FDNY were also in attendance to help a brother firefighter.  Additionally, many people and businesses in Lynbrook and in other towns donated gifts that were raffled off in a Chinese auction.   Hose Company Ex-Captain Ray Burke and his band, RPM-45, played some great music to entertain the crowd.  The food was also great.

Anyone who still wishes to make a contribution to Tony can still do it by sending a check, payable to Hose Company #1 and to write "Tony Labarca fundraiser" in the memo section of the check.  The check can be mailed to Hose Company Firehouse, Blake Avenue, Lynbrook, NY 11563.  Hose Company Captain Mike Gunning wished to thank everyone who supported this worthy cause and to let everyone know that there help and contributions are great appreciated by Tony, his family, and the members of Hose Company
