On December 11, 2004, during the Lynbrook Fire Department's Annual Children's Christmas Fire Truck Rides the Department was called out for a reported car fire at Sunrise Highway and Rogers Avenue.  Vulcan, Tally-Ho and Truck Companies responded from the Earle Avenue parking field where the rides were taking place.  As the trucks headed west on Sunrise Highway a large column of smoke could be seen in the distance.  A quick attack by hose lines from Vulcan and Tally-Ho quickly extinguished the fully involved vehicle.  First Deputy Chief James McDermott was in charge at the scene.
