VAN HITS CEMENT TRUCK

Story and Photos by Ex-Captain Steve Grogan

On Tuesday, July 25, 2006, just after 4:30 PM, a van proceedings west on Sunrise Highway drove into the rear of a stop cement mixer at the intersection of Horton Avenue.  The impact of the crash sent the driver of the van flying into the back of the vehicle.  The Lynbrook Fire Department's Emergency Medical Company, the Extrication Team, and  Tally-Ho Engine 3, was dispatched to the scene.  Medical Company personnel stabilized the injured driver, put him on a stretcher, and transported him to the hospital.  Firefighters mobbed up engine oil and anti-freeze from the wrecked van that had leaked onto the roadway.
