At about 7:30 AM on February 27, 2019, the Lynbrook Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire on Lakewood Boulevard off Wyoming Avenue. With heavy smoke billowing from the home, First Assistant Chief Nick Pearsall broadcast a Signal 10 upon his arrival.  Engine Company 1 was first on the scene and immediately stretched the initial hose line into the house. Second Assistant Chief John Donald led the firefighting effort inside the house. Two other lines were stretched as the other fire companies arrived with only one of them being put into operation.

When Truck Company arrived, their members began to ventilate while its ladders was raised to the second floor and the above attic area.  The fire was on the first-floor kitchen area with minor extension up the wall to the second floor.  Assistant Chief Pearsall requested mutual aid from the Rockville Centre, East Rockaway and Malverne who came to the scene.

The fire was under control in about 40 minutes. There were no injuries. While members were taking up from the Lakewood Blvd fire, another call came in for a small fire Senior Citizen complex at 30 Doxsey Place.
