Working Car Fire

Story & photos by  Ex Captain Steven Grogan

On Monday, November 13, 2016, at approximately 5:15 PM, the Lynbrook Fire Department, under the command of First Assistant Chief Carl Lengel, responded to a car fire on Whitehall Street just off Horton Avenue. While firefighters were enroute to the scene they were notified that there was a working fire at that location. Tally-Ho Engine 3, whose firehouse is on Horton Avenue, was first on the scene after the chiefs. A hose line was immediately stretched and the fire was put out after a few minutes. Truck & Engine Company members also assisted. The vehicle, which was an antique two-seat convertible, caught fire when the mechanic working on the vehicle tried starting it.  The car was destroyed.
