Lynbrook FD Battles a Two Car Garage Fire

Story by Dan Neri

On March 6, 2018, multiple calls came over for smoke in the area in the Yorkshire section of the Village of Lynbrook. The origin of the smoke was from a car fire that started in the garage of a house on Surrey Commons. The garage was fully engulfed and extended to a second car that was parked in the driveway in front of the garage.

Under the command of Chief William Abrams the Lynbrook Fire Department arrived on the scene and unit 423, who was first due on the scene stretched two lines. Unit 421 took the second stretched line and protected the house and adjacent exposures. Truck Co. performed overhaul and made sure any portions of the garage that were in danger of falling were removed.

The garage and both cars were completely destroyed, and the house suffered minor damage from the intense heat, which also broke a window.

Valley Stream Truck was assigned as a FAST Team, and units from Rockville Centre and East Rockaway stood by.
