LFD Sponsors 4th Battalion Burn Center Fundraiser

On Sunday, March 6, 2016, the Lynbrook Fire Department sponsored the Annual Fourth Battalion Burn Center Fundraiser which was held for the second year in a row at the Commuters Club on Ocean Avenue in East Rockaway.  This annual fundraiser by the five Fourth Battalion fire departments, and sponsored by a different department each year, has raised over $100,000 in just over 12 years.  Chief James McDermott and the Lynbrook members worked hard to make this year's event successful.  It appears this year's event, which is still being audited, raised just over $7000 to help support the Nassau County Firefighters Burn Center Foundation at Nassau University Medical Center.  The Burn Center besides treating firefighters burned fighting fires also treats all citizens in Nassau County requiring treatment and hospitalization for burn injuries.  At the time of this year's event a young child from Nassau County was seriously burned and is being presently treated at the Burn Center.  Chief McDermott thanks all the people and businesses that made donations to the fundraiser.
