Ex-Chief James McDermott was a member of the Lynbrook Fire Department softball team for years.  With his recent passing the other members of the team decided to play on August 26th in his honor.  The firefighters played a double-header against the Masterbatters.  The firefighters won the first game 16 to 10 but lost the second game.  Firefighters had hung Jim's team t-shirt in the dugout to remind everyone why they were playing.
