Mutual Aid to Malverne

Story & photos by  Ex Captain Steven Grogan

On August 13, 2015, at approximately 4:30 PM, the Lynbrook Fire Department was called out on a mutual aid to assist the Malverne Fire Department with a reported Signal 10 house fire at 25 Aberdeen Street. Truck Company was called as a Fast Team and responded under the command of Chief James McDermott.  First Assistant Chief John Chavatte was responded.  The original call came in as a reported basement fire as heavy smoke poured out of a side door of the home.  The fire however was not in the basement but in the small hallway inside the side door.  Rubbish was found burning with the fire climbing the wall just inside the door. It was quickly extinguished with one line. Lynbrook was at the scene for about 40 minutes.
