FDNY 343 Ride Stops in Lynbrook

Story & Photos by Ex-Captain & Honorary Chief Steve Grogan

On the morning of September 15, 2019, the FDNY held their Ninth Annual 343 Memorial Ride from the World Trade Center to Montauk to remember those who perished in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.  One of the rest stops along the route, which is the length of Long Island, has been Vulcan Company's firehouse on Denton Avenue.  The bike riders got a chance to rest, get a snack and use the bathrooms. The riders were escorted by units of the Nassau County Police Department. After a half-hour break the riders were back on their bicycles and last seen heading east on Merrick Road.
