Trash Fire at the Holiday Inn Express

Lynbrook firefighters responded to a reported dumpster fire attached to the building at the Holiday Inn Express at Sunrise Highway and Ocean Avenue on the afternoon of September 17, 2019.  When Chief Nick Pearsall arrived on the scene he found the fire was a pile of garbage in the corner of the property and nowhere near the building.  Engine Company was first on scene and put out the smoldering bags of garbage after a Lynbrook police officer who was first on the scene used an extinguisher to knock down the fire. Truck Company overhauled the pile.   Firefighters were on scene for about 15 minutes.
