Mutual Aid to Valley Stream

Story & Photos by Ex-Captain & Honorary Chief Steve Grogan

On the morning of September 30, 2019 Lynbrook Firefighters responded on a mutual aid to the Valley Stream Fire Department. Valley Stream had broadcast a Signal 10 for a working fire in a row of two-story attached condominiums on Corona Avenue about one-half mile south of Southern State Parkway.  Lynbrook's Truck Company, Engine Company, and Emergency Medical Company, all under the command of Third Assistant Chief Chris Kelly responded to the scene.  Lynbrook's ladder joined three other ladders in the condo parking lot and put its bucket to the roof.  The fire appeared to have begun in the back deck area of one of the middle condos.  The fire spread up the back wall and into the condo and its roof area.  Members of Engine Company assisted in entering neighboring condos to fight any extensions of the fire.
