The Lynbrook Fire Department is part of the Fourth Battalion Fire District.  The other departments in the battalion are East Rockaway, Lakeview, Malverne and Rockville Centre.  Each year for the past 15 or so years the firefighters from the Fourth Battalion have held a fundraiser for the Nassau County Firefighters Burn Center Foundation.   

Even with the pandemic and the cancellation of this year’s actual fundraiser the membership of these departments was still able to donate $6500 this year.  The Fourth Battalion over the years has raised over $160,000 for the Foundation.   The Burn Center is located at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.   

The present chairman of the Fourth Battalion is Lynbrook Ex-Chief John O’Reilly.  Chairman O’Reilly, joined by the executive board of the Battalion recently presented this year’s check to Burn Center Foundation Trustee Thomas Gaffney of the Syosset Fire Department.  Gaffney spoke during the presentation and thanked the Battalion firefighters for their long-time and continued assistance.
