The month of October is Fire Safety Month. It is also the month that the Lynbrook Fire Department pays their respects and honors six Lynbrook volunteers that had died in the Line of Duty for our community.  

Also in October every year, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation holds their Memorial Weekend to remember firefighters throughout the United States that have died in the line of duty that year.

The National Fallen Firefighters Memorial, since 1990, is designated by the US Congress as the National Memorial to career and volunteer fallen firefighters   It is located in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

The following video was recorded at the October 3, 2010 National Fallen Firefighters Foundation weekend.  The song, Red Wagon, was sung by, a young lady, Jaycie Ward.  It was written by Paul Hickey and Jason Lucas.  Hickey, is a former resident of East Rockaway and attended Lynbrook High School.  Their production company is 6 Angel Productions.
