Mutual Aid ot Malverne

Story & Photos by Ex-Captain/Honorary Chief Steve Grogan

Lynbrook Truck Company's Unit 427 responded on a mutual aid to the Malverne Fire Department after lightning struck a home on Park Lane North in Franklin Square during a thunderstorm on the evening of July 22, 2020.  Malverne firefighters responded shortly before 8 PM that night and Malverne Chief Richard Bopp broadcast a Signal 10 for a "working fire.".  Truck Company was dispatched.  Besides Truck Company, Malverne firefighters were assisted by neighboring battalion fire departments in fighting the fire on the second floor of the home which was fully involved in fire. At one point fire could be seen blowing out an upstairs window as firefighters made there way with hose lines up the stairs to fight the inferno.  Firefighters were at the scene for about two hours.
