Auto Accident on Sunrise Hwy.

Story and Photos by Ex-Captain Steve Grogan

On Tuesday evening, March 24, 2015, at about 10 PM, the Lynbrook Fire Department under the command of Chief Michael Anderson responded to a reported auto accident on Sunrise Highway at Vincent Avenue.  Two vehicles had collided at that intersection when one of them attempted to cross over Sunrise and was T-boned by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway.  Four young adults and a young child were injured in the accident and the eastbound roadway on Sunrise was closed down by the Lynbrook police.  Both ambulances from the department's Emergency Medical Company responded as did Truck Company.  Due to the number of aided the East Rockaway Fire Department was called on a mutual aid and they responded with their ambulance.  Lynbrook took two and East Rockaway took two to South Nassau Hospital.   No one was seriously hurt.  The cars were towed from the scene and Sunrise Highway was reopened after about 45 minutes.
