Firefighters Drill at McDonalds

Story and Photos by Ex-Captain Steve Grogan

With the McDonald’s store on Merrick Road to be torn down this week for a new building, the owners allowed the volunteers of the Lynbrook Fire Department to conduct a drill and training session in the empty building on Sunday morning, January 27, 2008.

The LFD, under the command of Chief Robert Occhipinti, and the Department’s training committee, held a number of training evolutions inside and outside the building.   Besides Lynbrook’s five fire companies, the Emergency Medical Company, and the Lynbrook Junior Fire Department, ladder companies from the East Rockaway and Rockville Centre Fire Departments, also trained.

During the training the Lakeview Fire Department stood-by to cover additional fire calls in Lynbrook during the training.
