Lynbrook Mutual Aid to Valley Stream

Story & photos by  Ex Captain Steven Grogan & Firefighther Brian Grogan

On Sunday, October 31, 2010, the Lynbrook Fire Department responded on a mutual aid to the Valley Stream Fire Department which was fighting a Signal 10 at the Inatome Japanese Steakhouse on Fifth Street off Rockaway Avenue.  Valley Stream got the call at 2:18 PM.  The Steakhouse was opened in 1975.  Chief Burke and Deputy Chief DeCarlo were at the scene while Lynbrook's Truck Company did stand-by duty at Valley Stream's Headquarters.   Engine Company 1 was also called out and they were requested to the scene to supply water to Valley Stream's Engine 342 which was located in the adjacent office building driveway.  Engine 342 then supplied water to Malverne's ladder.  Lynbrook was on the scene for over an hour.  The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office was investigating the cause of the fire.
