Christmas Cards for Wounded Warriors

Story & photos by  Ex Captain Steven Grogan

On Sunday afternoon, December 1, 2012, members of the Lynbrook Fire Department who are active Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warrior were on Atlantic Avenue during the Village of Lynbrook's annual Christmas Celebration.  Firefighters, with an assist from the Ladies Auxiliary, maned a table where Christmas cards, donated by Stu from Millers Hardware, and Bill Gaylor of Lyn Gift Shop, where signed by grown-ups and children.  These cards were personally given by the Lynbrook firefighters to wounded soldiers and Marines at Walter Reed National Military Hospital in Bethesda, MD, on December 7th.  Also, on that evening, Tally-Ho maned the burning barrels and Chief Anthony DeCarlo made toasted marshmellows and Smores.
