On a chilly and overcast Saturday afternoon, December 20, 2008, the volunteers of the Lynbrook Fire Department, under the command of Chief John O'Reilly, held their annual Christmas fire truck rides in the downtown area of the village.  After the children rode the fire trucks they got a chance to sit on Santa's lap inside Truck Company's firehouse where coffee and hot chocolate was also served. 

The Lynbrook Fire Department has been holding this annual event for nearly 50 years.  The chairman for the event was Ex-Captain Ed Hynes of  Engine Company
