Mutual Aid to Valley Stream

Story & photos by  Ex Captain Steven Grogan

On Saturday afternoon, March 23, 2013, the Lynbrook Fire Department was called out on a mutual aid to the Valley Stream Fire Department for a Signal 10 at a commercial building at 178 E. Hawthorne Avenue just two blocks from Horton Avenue and the Lynbrook boundary.  A heavy smoke condition blanked the area from a fire in machinery in the basement.   Hewlett and Elmont also responded.  The fire however was quickly knocked down in the basement.  Engine Company, led by First Assistant Chief Edward Hynes, responded on the mutual aid.  The members stood-by before being released soon after.
