At the Council Meeting held on April 15, 2008, John O'Reilly of Engine Company was sworn in by Lynbrook Mayor Brian Curran as Chief Engineer of the Lynbrook Fire Department for the coming year. 

Also sworn in was First Deputy Kevin Bien of Truck Company, Second Deputy Ray Burke, of Hose Company, and Third Deputy Mike Hynes, of Engine Company.  Mayor Curran then presented a bottle of champagne to Chief O'Reilly who opened it and a toast was made for a safe and successful year to the chiefs and the volunteers of the Department.   

After the Chiefs were sworn in, the Village Administrator John Giordano, swore in the wardens.  Chief O'Reilly then swore in the officers of the six companies that make up the Lynbrook Fire Department
