On May 20, 2010, at 8:57 AM, the Lynbrook Fire Department was called on a mutual aid to the Baldwin Fire Department to assist at a Signal 10 building fire on Grand Avenue between Merrick Road and Prospect, and just south of Baldwin’s firehouse.  Deputy Chief Mike Hynes responded with Truck Company’s 427 to the scene.  Other departments that also responded were Freeport, Oceanside, Hempstead, Rockville Centre, South Hempstead, Island Park, Lakeview, Roosevelt, Merrick, North Merrick and North Bellmore.  It took two hours to get control of the fire.  Baldwin firefighters fought a fire in the same building in January 2009.
