Auto Accident with Extracation

Story and Photos by Ex-Captain Steve Grogan

On Friday, May 26, 2007, shortly after 10 AM, the Lynbrook Fire Department, under the command of Chief Robert Occhipinti, responded to a motor vehicle accident with people trapped at Five Corners.  The Emergency Medical Company's two ambulances and the Department's Extrication Team vehicle responded to the scene.  One of the vehicles in the accident was on the sidewalk in front of the movie threatre.  A passenger in this vehicle was trapped and the Extrication Team members had to cut off the passenger door to get this person out of the vehicle.  While this was being done the fire medic personnel stabilized the victim inside the vehicle and a second injured person.  Two injured people were transported to the hospital by the Emergency Medical Company.
