Mutual Aid to RVC

Story & photos by  Ex Captain Steven Grogan

On May 29, 2012, at about 11 AM, the Lynbrook Fire Department was called on a mutual aid to assist the Rockville Centre Fire Department with a Signal 10 house fire at 23 Lincoln Ct. off Lincoln Avenue. Hose Company and Truck Company responded under the command of First Assistant Chief Edward Hynes. RVCFD made a quick stop and confined the fire to the kitchen and wall area. Lynbrook firefighters were not needed and stood-by. Besides Lynbrook, Oceanside, and East Rockaway Fire Departments also sent their ladders to the scene. RVCFD had called the mutual aid shortly after a blackout occurred in their village and fire doors could not be electrically opened. They were also responding to other calls during the morning blackout. Their were not injuries and Lynbrook was on the scene for about an hour.
