LFD Responds to Overturn

Story and Photos by Ex-Captain Steve Grogan

Just after midnight on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, the Lynbrook Fire Department under the command of Chief John O’Reilly responded to a reported auto accident with overturn on Merrick Road near Wilson Avenue.  The Emergency Medical Company with Unit 425 and the department’s Extrication Team in Unit 426-2, responded to the scene.

It appeared that a vehicle traveling westbound on Merrick Road and passing Taco Bell was struck by a second vehicle turning into the Taco Bell parking lot.  The first car overturned.  The occupants of both vehicles were able to get out of their damaged vehicles.

Five occupants were treated by Medical Company personnel and transported by Lynbrook’s ambulance to South Nassau Hospital.  All injuries were minor.
