Lynbrook Attends Bug Parade

Story by Ex-Captain Steve Grogan; Photos by Florence DeVito-Wargo

On July 4, 2012, Lynbrook Chief Anthony "Zemo" DeCarlo and a group of Lynbrook firefighters on Tally-Ho's rig and the rack truck, participated in the Fourth of July Bug Parade in Stewart Manor which attracts 35 departments in this annual water fight, along the over one mile parade route, between the firefighters and the homeowners. Chief "Zemo" said, "It was one of the craziest things I have ever done in the fire service." "It was so much fun!" Although Lynbrook firefighters came armed with water balloons and water guns they were no match for the homeowners with their garden hoses, water cannons, and their own supply of buckets of water and balloons. Everyone got wet. Stewart Manor FD then held a block party at their firehouse after the parade.
