Lynbrook Responds to ERFD’s Signal 10
Story & photos by  Ex Captain Steven Grogan

On Friday afternoon, August 21, 2009, the Lynbrook Fire Department, under the command of Third Deputy Chief Anthony DeCarlo, responded on a mutual aid to East Rockaway to assist at a Signal 10 house fire at the dead end of Second Street.  Engine Company 1, Truck Company, and the Emergency Medical Company responded to the scene.

Engine Company firefighters assisted inside the house with a back-up line while Truck Company was the back-up Fast Team.  The Medical Company stood-by and treated one firefighter who refused additional treatment.  It is believed that the fire started in the car in the driveway next to the house and high winds that afternoon spread the fire to the house.  Lynbrook was at the scene for about 90 minutes.
