Car Fire on Forest Avenue

Story and Photos by Ex-Captain Steve Grogan

Lynbrook firefighters under the command of Chief Michael Anderson responded to a reported car fire on Saturday afternoon August 30,2014 at about 3:30 PM, on Forest Avenue near the corner of Howard Place.  Chief Anderson upon arrival broadcast to the fire companies that he had a working car fire at that location.  Hose Company and Vulcan Company responded to the scene and a booster and a handline from Hose Company was stretched with the help of other firefighters already at the scene.  The fire was quickly extinguished but not before the car was a total loss.  Firefighters were at the scene for about 25 minutes.  The driver of the vehicle said he was traveling south on Forest Avenue when he suddenly noticed smoke and fire coming from the hood at the same time the engine stopped running.
