Helicopter Transports Injured Youth

Story & photos by  Ex Captain Steven Grogan

At 4:15 PM, on July 20, 2010, the Lynbrook Fire Department was dispatched for an injured youth who allegedly fell while climbing the 12 foot high ballfield fence in the rear of the Davison Avenue School in Lynbrook.  Second Deputy Chief Anthony DeCarlo responded as did the Emergency Medical Company's 425A.  Upon arrival at the scene medical personnel requested a Nassau County Police helicopter to the scene for transportation after determining that the youth, age 15, had suffered severe trauma to his back in the fall.   Vulcan Engine 422 was also dispatched to the scene to cover the helicopter landing.  Upon arrival of the helicopter, the youth, stabilized by the medical personnel, was loaded on the helicopter and flown to the hospital.
