 LFD Demonstrates at Expo

Story and Photos by Ex-Captain Steve Grogan

At Lynbrook Expo 2014 held on Saturday, September 20th, 2014, members of the Lynbrook Fire Department demonstrated a high altitude rescue from the Firefighter's Arch in Greis Park.  Under the leadership of Second Assistant Chief John Chavatte and Firefighter Brian Brown, a dummy was hung from the arch to demonstrate a worker suspended and trapped high above a street.  Firefighters Brown and Derrick McGuinness were lowered from the arch and demonstrated how the worker would be rescued and then lowered to the ground.  On the ground, members of the Emergency Medical Company took over to place the worker on a stretcher for transportation to the hospital.
