On Sunday, February 12, 2013, members of the Lynbrook and Rockville Centre Junior Fire Departments assembled at East Rockaway's Liberty Hose firehouse to present a $5900 check to the East Rockaway Fire Department to help them repair damage from Hurricane Sandy.  The money was raised by the two junior departments at a fundraising breakfast held at Applebees in Baldwin on January 20th.  Included in the $5900 donation was $860 in 50/50 chance monies.  The winner of half that, $430, was won and donated back by Lynbrook firefighter Keith Straub.
