Junior's Gets Hands-On Training

Story & photos by  Ex Captain Steven Grogan

On Sunday, September 26, 2010, members of the Lynbrook Junior Fire Department, in grown-up turnout gear too big for most of them, received hose attack training from members of Tally-Ho Engine 3 at Valley Stream's training area on Saterie Avenue and Horton Avenue.  The juniors trained with charged inch and 3/4 attack lines, even moving the lines around obstacles.  They learned to work as a team as each took turns as the nozzle man.   The juniors were also assisted by three of their advisors (and former juniors themselves), Ex-Chief John O'Reilly, and Firefighters Chris Hynes of Engine and Brian Grogan of Tally-Ho.  The juniors train with each of the six companies in the Lynbrook Fire Department as part of their learning experience to be a future Lynbrook firefighter.
