Ex-Chief Edward Hynes was one of seven recipients to receive the Lynbrook Little League's New York Mets Spirit Award at ceremonies at Citi Field on the evening of May 27, 2014.   This is the League's ninth annual awards night.  The award, according to the Lynbrook Herald, "recognizes those individuals who have given of themselves in displaying exemplary services, support and/or achievements that have enhanced the lives of Lynbrook Little League children with a positive experience."  Also receiving the award was County Executive Ed Mangano, Senior Town Councilman Anthony Santino, Patricia Ciampi of Lynbrook Recreation, Peter Serro of Skyline Cruises, and Lynbrook Police Officer Sean Murphy.  The Lynbrook Fire Department color guard brought the colors onto center field for the opening ceremonies while hundreds of Little League players stood along the warning track in the outfield.  The department was led by Chief Michael Anderson who got a chance to bond with Mr Met prior to the ceremonies.  The Mets beat the Pirates 4 to 2.
