LFD Helps Out at RVC House Fire

Story by Ex-Captain Steve Grogan; Photos by Firefighter Brian Grogan - Top right photo by Bill Bennett

Shortly after 1 AM on the morning of March 31, 2009, the Lynbrook Fire Department was called on mutual aid to assist the Rockville Centre Fire Department with a working house fire just on Lakeview Ave.  Lynbrook Chief John O’Reilly responded to the scene with Truck Company, Vulcan Company, and the Emergency Medical Company.

Truck Company’s bucket truck, 427, was carefully backed down the driveway of a house by Ex-Chief Frank Morris so firefighters could reach the rear of the burning house.  Members of Vulcan assisted on hose lines to extinguish the fire while Truck members assisted overhauling the house, which suffered severe damage.  Lynbrook firefighters were at the scene for about two hours.
