The Lynbrook Junior Fire Department is the best in Nassau County for 2009, according to the Nassau County Firefighters Parade and Drill Team Captain’s Association.  The distinction was awarded to the Lynbrook’s Juniors at the annual Association Installation and Awards Dinner held on November 14, 2009.    This is the fifth time that the Lynbrook Junior Fire Department has received the first place award.  They previously won this honor in 2001, 2003, 2005, and in 2008. 

Additionally, at the dinner, the Association awarded the Lynbrook Fire Department’s tournament drill team, the Tumblers, second place in Old Fashion competition in Nassau County for the year.  They also picked up an additional first place trophy for having the best Running Ladder team, and another trophy for first place in the Efficiency hose competition, tying with neighboring Rockville Centre FD for this award.
