Lynbrook FD Plans Operation Wounded Warrior Concert

The Lynbrook Fire Department announced at the Lynbrook Village Board meeting on July 16th that it will hold a block party to benefit Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warrior.  The block party, called Community Concert for the Troops, will be held on  Sunday, September 30, 2012, between the hours of 12 noon and 6 PM, on a closed Earle Avenue in front of the quarters of Rescue Hook, Ladder and Bucket Company #1.  The concert will include music by Jimmy Kenny and the Pirate Beach Band, the band  Playback, and others.  They will play on a Town of Hempstead showmobile on Earle Avenue which runs between Sunrise Highway and Merrick Road in Lynbrook.  The cost is only $20 per person and military personnel in uniform are free.  There will be a number of raffles prizes.

The Lynbrook Fire Department, which is actively involved in Operation Wounded Warrior, raised nearly $13,000 from a Salute to our Heroes block party last year.   A few wounded warriors are expected to be present for the party this year to thank everyone for their support.   According to Ex-Chief Kevin Bien, chairman of the event,  "Residents should come to the concert to thank these wounded warriors  for their sacrifice."
