Fire at 248 Earle Ave.

On Saturday February 25th, 2017 at approximately 2210 hours, the Lynbrook FD was alerted to smoke in the vicinity of Earle Ave & Peninsula Blvd. Upon arrival, a signal "10" working fire was transmitted by Chief Lengel. Hose Co was the first unit on scene, followed by Truck Co, & stretched a line to the attic of 248 Earle Ave. with Chief Pearsall. Truck Co quickly laddered the building and gained access to the roof.

A second line was ordered to the house next door, 244 Earle, to cool it to prevent it from catching fire as it was already smoking from the flame impingement. Vulcan and Engine Company stretched this line and Tally Ho stretched a third line inside 248.

Multiple mutual aids were requested from Malverne, RVC, East Rockaway & Valley Stream due to the advanced fire on arrival and the threat of extension to the neighboring house.

The fire was knocked down quickly and the neighboring house was cooled and only suffered exterior damage. All units made rapid work of the fire preventing more damage and removed two occupants with only one minor injury to FD personnel.

A great job was done by all FD personnel on scene. This fire could have been far worse, if not for their actions.
