On October 10, 2006, the name of Ex-Captain Jeffrey L. Wiener of Tally-Ho Engine Company 3 of the Lynbrook Fire Department, was added to the New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial at the Empire State Plaza in Albany.  Wiener, as a Navy Corpsman, was killed fighting with a Marine combat unit in Iraq on March 5, 2005.  The New York State Fireman's Association honored Ex-Captain Wiener by adding his name to the memorial as a fallen firefighter. The other 18 firefighters killed in 2005 and also added to the memorial where killed in the line of duty while fighting fires.  Among the other 18 included a NYC firefighter from Malverne, and volunteer firefighters from the Rockville Centre, Woodmere, and Hempstead Fire Departments.  Jeff's wife Maria, and their two children, Jeff's mom, and other members of the Wiener and Barberio families were on hand for the ceremonies attended by Governor George E Pataki, who is the son of a volunteer firefighter and other dignitaries.  Members of Tally-Ho were also in attendance at the ceremonies.  Wiener was previously honored by the VFW, Tally-Ho, and the Village of Lynbrook, with a stone marker at the Village of Lynbrook's Doughboy Monument this past Memorial Day.
