Auto Accident with Injuries 3/28/05

By Shannan Murphy, LFD Press Liaison

On a rainy Monday evening, the Lynbrook Fire Department was called to the scene of a serious auto accident at the intersection of Christabel and Oak Streets.  The March 28, 2005 incident involved two cars.

Upon arrival at the scene, Lynbrook Fire Department Chief David Pearsall immediately requested a forthwith response from Medical Company to respond both ambulances and from the Extrication Team.  With a strong odor of gasoline, a still alarm was sounded which brought Engines 421 and 423 and Ladder 428 to the scene to handle the potentially hazardous spill.

“The jaws of life were needed to gain access to and remove two passengers from the back seat of one of the cars,” explained Chief Pearsall.  “The Lynbrook and East Rockaway Fire Departments transported 7 people to area hospitals for medical treatment.  Only one passenger sustained serious injuries.”

The Lynbrook Police Department investigated this incident to determine a cause for this serious accident occurring on residential side streets.
