Photos and Story by Ex-Captain Steve Grogan On Wednesday, May 4, 2006, at about 7:30 PM, the Lynbrook Fire Department was dispatched to a reported auto accident at the intersection of Broadway and Olive Place. The department, under the command of Chief Keith Festa, responded with an ambulance from the Emergency Medical Company, and the Extrication Team, as it was reported to be “a tool job”. The Chief also requested Engine Company #1 to the scene to assist. With the Extrication Team working to free one of the driver’s from her vehicle with the Jaws of Life, the members of Medical Company stabilized the injured driver inside the vehicle. The Medical Company team also attended to the driver’s child and mother who were also in the car, as well as to the second driver. The second driver was transported to the hospital by Hewlett FD’s ambulance which came on a mutual aid request while. Lynbrook’s ambulance took the other three to the hospital. |
