On April 23, 2021, Tally-Ho Engine
Company #3 of the Lynbrook Fire Department dedicated and
christened their new 2021 Spartan fire truck at wet-down
ceremonies in the parking lot of the Tally-Ho firehouse on
Horton Avenue.
This fire truck is their eighth piece of firefighting
equipment since the company was formed 119 years ago.
Lynbrook mayor Alan Beach and
members of the village board were present along with county
and town officials. Also present were the chiefs of
the Lynbrook Fire Department and other local fire
companies.
During the ceremony, Ex-Chief and
Honorary Commissioner Thomas Ryan broke the ceremonial
bottle of champagne on the front pumper. It was also
blessed by Our Lady of Peace deacon Kevin McCormick. After
the ceremony the new fire truck was wet-down with streams of
water.
The new fire truck is dedicated in
memory of Tally-Ho Lieutenant Fred Shnoor killed in the line
of duty during a fire on May 31, 1932, and Tally-Ho
Ex-Captain Jeffrey Wiener who as a Navy Corpsman was killed
in action in Iraq on May 7, 2005.
