On the afternoon of May 15, 2019, Lynbrook firefighters under the command of Chief NIcholas Pearsall were dispatched to a report auto accident and possible pin at the intersection of Merrick Road and Horton Avenue.  Chief Pearsall arrived on the scene and verified that one driver  b was pinned in her vehicle after she was t-boned by the second vehicle.  Tally-Ho Company was first on the scene and immediately brought out its extrication equipment.  With the car t-boned and firefighters unable to get to the driver's side of the vehicle, a floor jackwas placed under the other car's front end and firefighters pushed the other car away to get to the woman.  Engine Company also responded as did Truck Company. Both companies assisted.   Both doors and post were cut away and removed from the woman's vehicle.  Firefighters and EMS from North Shore removed the driver on a stretcher to a waiting North Shore ambulance and transportation to South Nassau Hospital.  The driver was not seriously injured.  Traffic was closed on Merrick Road westbound for about 45 minutes.
