Packing for Wounded Warrior Trips Story & photos by Ex Captain Steven Grogan
On the evening of December 3, 2018, Lynbrook firefighters joined
with other Nassau County firefighters who are part of Nassau County
Firefighters Operation Wounded Warrior to help load the U-Haul
trucks that would be used to bring Christmas gifts to our wounded
service men and women and their families. The firefighters
were bringing Christmas to these wounded at the Wounded Warrior
Battalions at Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune in North Carolina and the
National Military Hospital at Bethesda, MD, and the Wounded Warrior
Battalion at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. The North Carolina
contingent left on December 5th from Steward Manor fire headquarters
while the Bethesda and Fort Belvoir group, which included the
Lynbrook firefighters, left on December 7th from Lynbrook fire
headquarters. In addition, a News12 camera crew came to the
loading that evening and reported on the trips on the same nighttime
shows. |
