Car Fire Extinguished Story & photos by Ex Captain Steven Grogan
On July 3, 2016 at about 12:45 PM, Lynbrook firefighters for a
second week in a row responded to the intersection of Merrick
Road and Ocean Avenue to extinguish a working car fire.
Chief John Chavatte, upon his arrival, broadcast a "working" car
fire at the scene. Engine Company was first to the scene
followed by Truck Company. Engine Company stretched their
booster line and quickly extinguished the fire in a Range Rover
while Truck Company assisted with the overhaul of the
vehicle. The driver told Lynbrook police that he had just
register the vehicle and was taking it out for its first ride
when a fire started in the engine compartment while driving on
Ocean Avenue. Ocean Avenue was closed for about 45
minutes. |
