Farnum St. Basement Fire Story by Ex Captain Steven Grogan - Photos by Johnny Cook and others
On September 11, 2016, at 14:48 hours, the Lynbrook Fire Department
was dispatched to 19 Farnum Street for a reported basement
fire. First Assistant Chief Carl Lengel was in charge and
broadcast a Signal 10 upon his arrival. Engine Company,
421, was first due and took the hydrant in front of 17 Farnum.
They then stretched the pre-connect to the home. Members
of Hose Company, 424, arrived and assisted with the stretching of
that first attack line. When Tally-Ho, 423, and Vulcan, 422,
arrived they assisted with stretching the second pre-connect line
from 421 to the house. Truck Company had also arrived and
after performing a search ventilated the home. The Emergency
Medical Company stood-by. Valley Stream, Rockville Centre, and East
Rockaway FD's provided mutual aid assistance. The fire was quickly
extinguished but firefighters were at the scene for over an hour. |
