First Responders Day in Lynbrook
Story and Photos by Ex-Captain Steve Grogan
On Saturday, November 12, 2016, the Village of Lynbrook named Columbus Drive opposite Village Hall as First Responders Way in honor of our Lynbrook police officers, firefighters, and our medical personnel. Mayor William Hendrick was joined by State, County and Town officials, Police Chief Joseph Neve, and Second Deputy Chief William Abrams who was in charge of the department. Eash spoke to those assembled from a podium set up in the street on Columbus Drive. The center of the double-yellow line running down Columbus Drive was also painted blue and red. The sign was then unveiled at Columbus Drive and Merrick Road by the dignitaries. There is also a second sign at Columbus Drive and Langdon Place. |
