Company Juniors in the 1920's
Story
by Ex-Captain & Honorary Chief Steve Grogan, Archival
photographs.
Just recently a few very old photo negatives were found in the
archives on the second floor of headquarters. Prints from
those negatives shows Tally-Ho Juniors and Truck Company Rescue
Juniors getting ready to step-off in an unknown parade in the
1920's. Another photo shows the little wagon that the "Rescue
Juniors" used in the parade. And, a second one with trophies
on it. There is also a photo of two Rescue Juniors with a boy
scout. Additionally below is a unknown newspaper dated
September 15, 1926 which shows photos of the Rescue Juniors and Hose
Company Juniors. Another undated newspaper photo shows the
Rescue Juniors. And, finally a story dated September 8, 1927,
titled Bringing Credit to Lynbrook," speaks about the Lynbrook
Juniors and Truck Company Ex-Captain Fred Reifler.
A story
celebrating the 40th Anniversary this year of the forming of the
Lynbrook Junior Fire Department and the early beginnings of the
company juniors in the 1920's is available to view in PDF form by
clicking here. It appears in a recent article in The Volunteer Firefighters
magazine. |
