2019 Motorcycle Run for Wounded Warriors
Story & Photos by Ex-Captain & Honorary Chief Steve Grogan
On September 21, 2019, Lynbrook firefighters held their Second
Annual Motorcycle Run for Wounded Warriors from Greis Park to
Captree State Park. The run kicked off a full-day of
fundraising by Lynbrook's firefighters to help our wounded warriors.
Seven wounded warriors and their families came up to Lynbrook from
Fort Belvoir, VA, where the soldiers are receiving rehabilitation.
A ceremony was held before the start of the run with the American
Legion Post 335's color guard. When the riders left the
Tally-Ho parking lot for the ride they rode under a huge American
flag between Lynbrook's Truck Company ladder and a ladder from the
Franklin Square FD. Another American flag arch at Peninsula and
Ocean Avenue was put up by Malverne and RVC Fire Departments.
The warriors and their families rode behind the motorcycles in the
department's fire-police van. They returned to attend the
concert. |
