Michael Brooks Becomes
Lynbrook FD's 100th Chief

On April 21, 2020, Michael Brooks, a member of Hose Company 1 of the
Lynbrook Fire Department took over the reigns of the Lynbrook Fire
Department as Lynbrook's 100th Fire Chief. He replaced Chief
Nick Pearsall whose term of office was up.
Chief Brooks started his career in the Lynbrook Fire Department
when he joined the Lynbrook Junior Fire Department at age 13 in
1995. He served as Captain of the juniors from 1999 to 2000.
In June of 2000, at age 18, he joined Hose Company 1 of the Lynbrook
Fire Department. Over the years he held many positions
including two terms as captain of Hose Company. He has
been an elected assistant fire chief for the past three years.
He was elected Chief of Department on April 9th.
Chief Brooks comes from a family that has been involved in the
volunteer fire service for years. The Chief's grandfather,
Walter Brooks, also a member of Hose Company, was a Lynbrook Fire
Chief in 1972, while the chief's uncle Wally was also a captain of
Hose Company. The chief's mother, Mary Clare, is a member of the
department's and Hose Company's Ladies Auxiliary.
The Chief is married to Elizabeth who is the president of Hose
Company's Ladies Auxiliary. They have two daughters, Allison
and Sophia. The chief has been an employee of the Lynbrook
Department of Public Works for 16 years.
Lynbrook Mayor Alan Beach swore in Chief Brooks last week along with
his assistant chiefs outside of Lynbrook Fire Headquarters on Wright
Avenue. The assistant chiefs for the coming year are First
Assistant Chief John Donald of Truck Company, Second Assistant Chief
Chris Kelly of Engine Company, and Third Assistant Chief Danny
Ambrosio of Vulcan Company, were sworn into office by Lynbrook mayor
Alan Beach.. The chiefs terms of office are for one year. |
